Description
Royal Gramma Basslet (Gramma loreto)
Gramma loreto – The Royal Gramma Basslet is undisputedly one of the most perfect reef tank citizens. These fish are extremely popular because they’re not only gorgeous with their bright complementary colors, but they’re hardy, robust, and easy even for beginners to keep and feed. Unlike many other small fish, they’re not as timid after the acclimation period and tend to spend time in the water column entertaining their humans. They are peaceful toward even the timidest fishlike seahorses. They’re completely reef safe with all inverts and corals (except maybe hitchhiking amphipods that grow in most tanks).
This species does well in nano tanks, but they’re gregarious enough for large tanks. The ideal tank size is 30+ gallons. They can be kept singly or in small groups if added at the same time.
Royal Gramma Basslets are not picky when it comes to feeding and will take most aquarium foods. These captive bred fish are currently feeding on C1, PE pellet, and Hikari Mysis Shrimp. We recommend a varied diet of frozen meaty foods.
Royal Gramma Basslets are so popular and compatible with most hobbyist’s tanks, it’s safe to say that most reef aquariums house one. It’s our dream that one day all Royal Gramma Basslets (and all aquarium fish) in captivity will be captive bred. By purchasing a Biota Royal Gramma Basslet, you can help us reach our goal of a more sustainable and ethical aquarium hobby.
Royal Gramma are shipped inside a mesh tube. Please do not remove the fish from the tube; allow the fish to come out of the tube on its own. It’s best to add the tube with the fish inside to the tank. We recommend introducing new fish with an acclimation box.

BENEFITS OF AQUACULTURED BASSLETS
Aquacultured fish offer a huge advantage over wild-caught stock. For example, when cultured and grown out in captivity, they adjust more easily to aquarium life. They are less shy around human observers. Better yet, aquacultured specimens can better tolerate shipping stress. And, by purchasing captive bred fish you support the aquaculture of marine organisms to help make our hobby more sustainable!
