OceanMagik Live Phytoplankton Blend

OceanMagik is a unique blend of Four Live Phytoplankton species, specifically selected to provide your corals, Pods, and filter feeders a complete diet of highly nutritious essential fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, amino acids and carotenoids. OceanMagik will continuously feed your corals, clams, copepods, and other filter-feeding invertebrates. We designed OceanMagik to improve water quality by outcompeting nuisance algae for Nitrate and Phosphate. As the Live Phytoplankton in OceanMagik reproduces, it consumes nitrate and phosphate in the aquarium. This rapid growth leaves less of these chemicals available for use by unwanted algae – as a result, OceanMagik restricts unwanted growth. Only a LIVE product can offer both of these benefits as “dead” products do not reproduce and immediately begin decomposing into Nitrate and Phosphate. OceanMagik is a natural way to balance your tank and it will not cloud your water. Prolonged use of OceanMagik will also stabilize pH.

What’s In It?

OceanMagik consists of a proprietary blend of four Live Phytoplankton species:

“NANO”

Nannochloropsis gaditana :: Non-flagellated Yellow/Green :: 1 – 5 microns
This tiny green algae consumes several nitrogen waste compounds including ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. As a result, Nano helps if you have an overfeeding problem, if you are adding a new critter to your tank, or if you want to reduce the frequency of water changes.

“TET”

Tetraselmis sp :: Green Biflagellate :: 6 – 10 microns
With a rich and varied amino/ fatty acid profile, Tetraselmis provides a very nutritional feed for your marine life. Large aquaculture facilities commonly use Tet, due to its highly nutritional makeup.

“ISO”

Isochrysis galbana :: Brown Biflagellate :: 10 – 14 microns
This complex brown algae is high in DHA and is also often used to enrich zooplankton such as copepods and brine. Dosing your tank with Isochrysis will also boost zooplankton and copepod levels. It will also help with the development, coloration, and resilience of your marine life. Oysters, clams, mussels, and scallops all love Isochrysis!

“THAL”

Thalassiosira weissflogii :: Unflagellated Diatom :: 5 – 32 microns
Thal is the largest strain of phytoplankton we offer. As a beneficial diatom, this algae consumes silicates, restricting the growth of harmful dinoflagellates and silicates. Cycle time is reduced by adding Thal to your tank!

    I was in the habit of ordering the same phyto, but this blend has become my new favorite. I am always looking for things to feed my baby Reidi seahorses and the first week is crucial. This excellent product inadvertently feeds them by feeding copepods, and other creatures in their tank. I rate their success by how large their stomachs are which may not be scientifically sound. I am delighted with the results. My observation of twin tanks located side-by-side showed that this OceanMagik blend won.

    My tank has never been so clear, I don’t have tons of hair algae for the first time, and my fish and corals, and all the other critters are doing great.

    All my fish go crazy when I put this in the water, especially my dragonetes and my mandarin. I use the pods also, especially because I have 2 dragonets and 1 mandarin, but everyone loves them, I have to put them in at night or my tank would become like a shark fest!

    I was cycling my tank when I added two bags of copepods and Ocean Magik. I tested the water chemistry before adding anything and my readings were high because of the cycle. Algae Barn claims that the phyto will consume Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and Phosphates. I can confirm that statement that Ocean Majik does do what Algae Barn says. Before adding the Ocean Majik, my ammonia was 0, nitrite 5 ppm, nitrate 50 ppm, and phosphate .6 ppm. After adding one feeding, the nitrites went to 1 ppm, nitrates went to 25 ppm, and phosphates went to .2 ppm. The second time I added Ocean Majik, my nitrites are at 0 ppm, ammonia at 0 ppm, nitrate at 2.5 ppm, and phosphates are at .19 ppm. The last readings were also after a 33% water change but I help confirm that the product does what it says it does.

    I bought a combo pack (copepods and phytoplankton) to seed my refugium in my 150 gallon that I set up in January. After the tank finished its cycle I got a huge outbreak of diatoms all over my glass, powerheads, sand and live rock. I ordered more live phytoplankton and after adding the recommended dosage in the return pump chamber of my sump for about a week now, the diatoms are nearly gone from the rocks and powerheads with a noticeable reduction each day without doing any water changes. My nitrate and phosphate levels are still higher than I’d like but I’m continuing use because the phytoplankton should reduce these levels too. I’m going for an all natural filtration method aside from protein skimming so this product has been ideal for me.

    Ocean Majik made my water so clear, it was nice surprise. I believe it works as well as my carbon for polishing the water. I add a little each morning and the water is beautiful all day. My pods disappeared pretty quickly though. Sort of a let down I thought 10,000+ would do the job of seeding my 45 gallon tank. Overall, happy with everything else

    I have gone with enhancing products before and went back and forth about trying this magical green solution. To be honest I add this stuff to ring the dinner bell for my corals but I will say I have noticed better coloration and better polyp extension.

    I recently tried out this product to help fight off dino algae. After just a few days I noticed the growth rate of the dinos were significantly decreased and about a week and half later of dosing, there is barely any presence of dinos. I only slightly reduced my photo period, mechanically removed the dino algae for the first few days, and had a preexisting population of amphipods& copeopods. I’m hoping with continued use this product will help my candycane coral heal from the dino algae outbreak.

    Cleared up Dino’s in 4 days!!! Im on day 6 of dosing everyday with no visible dino’s!! Just make sure you turn your protein skimmer off for 4-5 hours or it will skim like crazy and overflow. If your suffering from Dino’s, adjust your lighting schedule to around 8hours, add the beneficial bacteria of your choice (microbactor7, doctor tims waste away ect) and ADD PHYTO!!! It will outcompete the dino’s and feed your coral at the same time.

    I have been fighting with diatoms for a year now and decided to use 16oz at a time because my coral were fading fast. After dosing 16oz every three days the OceanMagik has started starving out the diatoms and if it continues like this withe next dose i think my proble is solved. All of my coral have stated to grow again. Thanks
