Pom Pom Gracilaria Macroalgae

The Pom Pom Gracilaria (Gracilaria Hayi) plant, sometimes referred to as Red Bush macroalgae, is an exceptionally beautiful macroalgae. Between bright red and burgundy in hue and graced with sharply tapered, flame-like fronds, it adds a splash of color and texture to any refugium or saltwater aquarium. Pom Pom Gracilaria is a fast growing and hardy macroalgae when kept under proper conditions. It is also great for nutrient export in saltwater aquarium systems. Additionally, it is prized by many herbivorous fish keepers (especially tangs) as a healthy live seaweed food.

Pro Tip: Pom Pom Gracilaria can be grown out in the refugium and new growth can be trimmed and fed to herbivorous fish as a tasty treat.

    I decided to go with the smaller “golf ball” size piece of gracilaria to add to my display tank for a nice pop of color and texture. They must use huge golfballs in Colorado because I received one piece about the size of a large lemon with two smaller pieces about the size of a walnut. The stuff looks great, nice and healthy with a beautiful burgundy color. 100% recommend this macro, well worth the $15. Can’t imagine how much you’ll get if you order the 1lb package.

    There was a slight delay with USPS (3 days) so i was fearing the worst. Then when i got the package i opened it up. They packed everything very well. a wool lined bag with a heat pack (I live in Minnesota). The algae and other goods i got in the bag were still alive and moving around like nothing was wrong. The “golf ball” size was a loose term i would say, it would be closer to a baseball size. Came in a nice plastic jar tightly packed with a little water for transport. My lawnmower blenny and my Halloween urchin b-lined to it and ate almost half already (2 days in the tank). going need to order a larger one next time. Great product and worth the wait

    Bought the October deal with the intentions of putting it in my display. Very disappointed because they’re all small chips less than an inch. I dont have a refugium and it would just fly all over my tank. Pretty much cant use it at all.

    Beautiful. I bought a small in-tank refugium container to put in DP so that I could have the algae work there and be on display. I need to research more, but if this could be planted it would be a centerpiece in and of itself. Unfortunately, it is chopped up into chunks of various sizes – most of which would just be thrown all around the tank and clog up the strainers. Perhaps my batch will grow large enough and a section of it will be contiguous so I could figure out how to “plant” it. I am very pleased with this purchase. Now I hope it will do its job and gobble up excess nutrients.

    Came in a day early. Packaging was great as they included a cold pack, since the heat is over 100 degrees. The pom pom itself is beautiful and larger in quantity than I expected. The color is magnificent!
